WEB SERVICES LIBRARIAN (Librarian III)

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA)
Library is seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic, service-oriented Web
Services Librarian to lead development and management of the Library's
Websites, including remote library Websites. 

Reporting to the Director of Libraries, the Web Services Librarian will
manage Website content, implement continuing enhancements, and supervise
Web Services staff in activities such as Website design and Intranet
development. Additional responsibilities may include providing
instruction, reference and research assistance, participating in
outreach, liaison and grant programs, providing faculty and staff
consultation, supporting the Library's involvement in the curriculum,
and participating in the Library's knowledge management initiatives. For

Qualifications include ALA-accredited Masters degree in
library/information science; five years related experience in a health
sciences or academic library; experience in Internet use, Web design and
usability; applied knowledge of standard web tools, Web standards and
content management solutions; excellent oral and written communication
skills. Supervisory and/or project management experience required. Fund
raising, teaching, library reference experience desirable. Bilingual
English/Spanish desirable. 

Minimum salary is $38,000, plus a competitive benefits package. Texas
does not have state or local income taxes. 

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is
comprised of medical, dental, nursing, allied health and graduate
schools with approximately 2700 FTE students. The UTHSCSA is ranked
among the top 50 centers in NIH funding and has more research awards
than all other universities in the region combined. It is the home of
the Palmaz(r) stent and site of the country's largest congestive heart
failure study. The university boasts a premier diabetes research
institute and world-renowned alcohol and drug addiction research and
treatment programs. We lead the nation's medical centers in aging
research grants and we have the largest single cancer endowment in the
country. Biotechnology patents generate an income of more than $17.5
million, and the UTHSCSA has established the region's first
bioengineering research center.

The Library actively supports the information needs of its users through
a range of services and collection formats, regardless of where the user
is located. Outreach includes a branch library in San Antonio, a
satellite library at the Regional Academic Health Center in Harlingen,
Texas, and a circuit librarian program to health care institutions on
the Texas-Mexico border. The Library has an operating budget of
approximately $4.1 million and a FTE staff of 60 including 19
librarians. Our services are ranked in the top 20% among AAHSL libraries
and our own users' rating of our services placed us in the top 5 of
health sciences libraries participating in the 2003 LIBQUAL+ survey. The
Library reports to the Executive Vice President for Academic and Health
