Safari problem?

Hi Folks -

Just wondering if any wizards here might have an idea about this problem. I
have a CSS-based layout for a site redesign. The navigation header includes
a form to allow searching from anywhere in the site. The form lays out
(inline) just fine in several browsers, but in Safari (version 1.2.1
tested), the Submit button wraps down a line and really mucks up the design.
Here is the test case:

with the problematic form bordered in red. The problem occurs whether I use
an type="image" or type="submit" for the submit, and whether there is a
space, a non-breaking space, or no space between the text input and the
submit. The HTML (XHTML 1.0 Strict) and CSS both validate at W3C. Any help
is much appreciated!
