ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN - Arizona State University Libraries' Library
Instruction, Systems, and Technology (LIST) Department is seeking two
innovative, applicants with a strong commitment to customer service and
experience designing, developing, and/or presenting instruction. For more

GENERAL INFORMATION:  The two full-time, continuing appointment-track
(Academic Professional) positions are at the Assistant rank.  The positions
require professional development and service in addition to excellent job
performance.  Participate in professional development and service
activities.  Function as an integral member of the Library Instruction,
Systems, and Technology (LIST) development team.  Responsibilities include
developing and presenting library instruction in a variety of formats, and
the creation of various electronic publications.  Essential Functions
include serving as a member of LIST development team, helps create web-based
library instructions. Writes, edits, and electronically publishes library
instruction and orientation materials as needed. Will design, develop and
present instruction in library utilization. Consult with library subject
specialists to create, revise and digitize library publications. Serve as
liaison with faculty to accommodate library instructional needs.  Facilitate
development of web pages for the University Libraries' web site by
consulting with library departmental page masters to create and maintain
pages, and by creating and maintaining web pages and links to web pages.
Maintain current awareness of advances in library instruction, web
development and academic librarianship. Engage in professional development
and contribution, and service activities. Engage in public relations for
department and library (speaking to and offering tours for university and
non-university groups)

QUALIFICATIONS: Required:  American Library Association accredited Master of
Library/Information Sciences degree. Demonstrated:  Experience designing,
developing, and/or presenting instruction; Training and/or experience in
emerging technologies for information resources; Experience with personal
computers; Knowledge of HTML and web development tools; Experience in web
site management; Evidence of an ability to plan, coordinate, implement and
evaluate projects; and Ability to communicate effectively and openly with
colleagues and customers in a variety of settings and presentation modes.
Preferred:  Ph.D. in Library Science, Information Science or Education.
Demonstrated: Experience using web development, multimedia authoring and/or
desktop publishing software for library applications; Experience working in
a team environment; Experience in the evaluation and assessment of
instruction;  Library systems experience; and Experience working in a
library environment. 

SALARY RANGE: $36,000
