**Editor's Featured Site: FirstGov.gov
http://www.firstgov.gov
The new FirstGov.gov premiered on February 27 with a $350,000 redesign
and an emphasis on access to its database of 35 million pages via a
maximum of three mouse clicks. Users are directed to a cascading
series of links organized by topic: services for Citizens, for
Businesses, and for Governments. Links to government agencies and
reference sources appear on the left side of the front page. The
'enhanced' search engine takes a back seat to direct linking, but
offers the option to locate federal or state data, or both.
Unfortunately, this site pales in comparison to other e-government
efforts as recognized by the Digital State Survey,
http://www.centerdigitalgov.com/center/01digitalstates.phtml. (Editor,
Sabrina I. Pacifici)
