The following message was sent out to our faculty and college community
yesterday. Please change any URLs for the Morrisville College Library
catalog. The old catalog is still running but is not being updated.

Subject: Big changes at the (online) Library!
Hello everyone:
Hope your summer is going great so far! We just wanted to be sure
everyone was aware that the SUNY Morrisville Library changed library
management software (effective May 30, 2002) from MultiLis to Ex Libris'
"Aleph 500". The entire SUNY system of libraries will be migrating to
this management software over the course of the next two years. (see
full story: http://www.sunyconnect.suny.edu/slam/exlibris.htm)
This is the same library management software system that is currently
being used by Johns Hopkins, Boston College, Harvard, MIT, Brandeis,
Yale, and many other academic libraries and consortia. The software
will be used for all recordkeeping at the library, including circulation
and cataloging, and eventually will be used for acquisitions and serials
as well.
The Aleph 500 online catalog offers patrons improved searching
(including a "browse by subject" function), a "basket" system for
choosing books (similar to Amazon.com), and e-mailing of records.Feel
free to take a look at the online catalog:

Also, a brief online tutorial in how to use the new Aleph catalog is
available at http://library.morrisville.edu/tutorial/level2/level2b.htm
We will be making a more detailed presentation of the new system in
August, but we wanted to be sure that the campus community was aware of
this big change.
I hope you enjoy using this new product, and we'll see you in August!
