Liz,

Yes, you can secure the preferences. It just depends on what version you are
running.

For Netscape 4.x, see:

http://tech.tln.lib.mi.us/noprefs.htm

This will disable the Preferences option so that users can not open it.

For Netscape 7, see:

http://tln.lib.mi.us/~amutch/pro/netscape/

This will remove the Preferences option from the interface.

In either case, you can still access the preferences using the prefs.js file so
make sure that you have access to the file system restricted. If you want to
put them on the server, I believe that Netscape 4 supports remote profiles. I
don't know if this is available in Netscape 7. I know it was something that the
Mozilla people were trying to work out.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Andrew
