Chesterfield County (VA) Public Library.  I apologize in advance for any

WEB LIBRARIAN:

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY is a dynamic library system dedicated

to excellence in customer service and staff involvement in service,
policy, and procedure development.  This library system, consisting of a

Central Library, eight branches, a law library, and outreach services,
serves a population of 261,000 in the Richmond, Virginia metropolitan
area. We are two hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Virginia
beaches, and Washington, D.C.

The WEB LIBRARIAN is responsible for designing and developing Web pages
for the County's Web sites, the library intranet, and the Library's Web
catalog; creating and delivering continuing education workshops on
library technology trends, library applications as available on the
local integrated online system, and office automation applications as
they apply to the library staff and use by the general public; providing

support of library equipment, software, and local area networks;
developing and enhancing the technology skills of subordinates and
co-workers; preparing statistical reports as requested; answering
inquiries regarding equipment and software; carrying out research for
Library Administration; and under the direction of the Library
Technology Management Administrator, directing up to four subordinate
staff supporting internal library e-mail applications, hardware/software

repair/replacement, and producing pre-defined reports.

REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited
library science program or equivalent combination of training and
experience. Considerable knowledge of theories and principles of library

science necessary; considerable knowledge of library automation concepts

and workflow, including circulation, reference, cataloging, and
materials purchasing procedures; considerable understanding of computer
networking principles, both local and wide-area networks; considerable
knowledge of Web page design, and experience in use of Web page
development tools; considerable knowledge of building and site
preparation related to automation, networking, and telecommunications
equipment; considerable skill in using common library machines;
considerable skill in using library automated systems; considerable
knowledge of modern business management and human resource management
principles; considerable knowledge of program planning and execution;
considerable skill in creating and delivering technology workshops to
the staff and public; considerable skill in communicating effectively
with people of varying backgrounds and ages. Pre-Employment Drug Testing
