Librarian; Government Documents/Public Services Librarian  


Collection Development/Monographic Acquisitions Librarian 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The University of Central Arkansas seeks a 
Collection Development/Monographic Acquisitions librarian for Torreyson 
Library.    Reporting to the Library Associate Dean, the successful candidate 
will have primary responsibility for monitoring growth of the collection and 
conducting  collection analyses; overseeing selection process for 
monographic and electronic materials; formulating and implementing 
collection development and acquisitions policies and procedures; allocating 
and monitoring monographic acquisitions budgets; serving as library liaison 
with academic departments.  Additional duties will include vendor relations; 
supervising receipt and disposition of gifts; providing statistical reports and 
other information to support the management of the collection; reference 
desk coverage; and personnel supervision. Special projects will be 
assigned.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  ALA-accredited MLS; at least two years 
experience in library acquisitions, or a combination of library experience and 
the book/serial trade; experience with automated acquisitions and integrated 
library systems; knowledge of evolving information technology; excellent 
communication and organizational skills;  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with Innovative Interfaces; 
demonstrated administrative ability; academic reference, teaching and 
supervisory experience; strong public services orientation, and strong 
teaching skills. The candidates should also be comfortable with change and 
eager to experiment with new programs and services.  


Government Documents/Public Services Librarian 

POSITION SUMMARY: The University of Central Arkansas seeks a 
government documents/public services librarian for Torreyson Library. 
Reporting to the Library Associate Dean, the successful candidate will have 
primary responsibility for managing a Federal Depository program. 
Additional duties will include reference desk coverage, supervision of 
microforms collection, research/information literacy instruction, and 
personnel supervision. Special projects will be assigned.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  ALA-accredited MLS, strong public 
services orientation, knowledge of evolving information technology, and 
strong teaching  skills.   

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with government documents 
processing and knowledge of Federal Depository guidelines/practices; 
academic reference, teaching, and supervisory experience. Candidates 
should be comfortable with change and eager to experiment with new 
programs and services.  

Successful applicants will be asked to choose either tenure-track or multi-
year, non-tenure-track appointments. Appointments are expected to be at the 
Library Assistant Professor rank, for which a master's degree from an ALA 
accredited library/information science program and 30 additional semester 
credit hours of graduate work in a relevant discipline are required.  However, 
an individual without the requisite 30 hours may be hired at the Instructor level 
with the understanding that they will pursue an agreed-upon program of 
additional study
