Circulation/Reference Librarian
(Regular/Full Time)
General Description    
The Circulation/Reference Librarian enhances the educational opportunities to students through the coordination and supervision of a system of library circulation and information services within available resources. 
Supervision    
Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Library Services. 
Job Duties

Essential Functions    
Coordinate and implement an effective and efficient system for circulation services, which includes the maintenance and inventory of all book stacks, periodicals and audio-visual materials and equipment.  
Provide an effective organization through the employment, supervision, training, evaluation and motivation of staff members. 
Coordinate the circulation module of the automated library system with the Technical Services Librarian with specific responsibilities for training, usage and problem resolution. 
Provide information services to students and faculty during assigned hours and provide coverage in the absence of scheduled librarian.
Provide bibliographic instruction services to individuals and assigned groups. 
Implement a system of collection development for assigned divisions including needs analysis, determination of additional Library materials and the weeding of obsolete materials with faculty input and assistance. 
Act as Library liaison to assigned divisions and attend scheduled division meetings. 
Maintain the control records for the serials control module and inform the Technical Services Assistant of appropriate changes for the Union List of Serials. 
Assist in the maintenance of a current periodical database.  
Assist the Coordinator of Public Services in developing and implementing bibliographic instruction programs and materials. 
Complete mutually agreed upon projects as assigned. 
Be involved in the activities of the College through services on appropriate and mutually agreed upon college committees 
Develop and implement a professional development plan. 
Use formal and informal means to communicate information about the Library to potential users. 
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention to self and others. 
Advise the Director of Library Services on significant matters and support members of management in the accomplishments of their goals and operational purposes.  Develop and maintain relationships within the organization to assure effective operation.
Minimum Qualifications  
(Unless otherwise stated, equivalent combination of education and related experience will be considered.)
ALA accredited MLS 
Minimum of one year of professional library experience 
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
(The individual must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.)    
Familiarity with automated library systems 
General knowledge of microcomputing, Windows, Internet 
Positive oral and written communication skills
Preferences
Community college work experience 
Experience with automated circulation systems 
Experience with SIRSI automated library system 


 Salary: $33,800 to $43,100 Per Year (Depending on Qualifications) 
Full Time with Excellent Benefit Package
