POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: INFORMATION SPECIALIST:
Collection Development

California Lutheran University, a comprehensive university ideally situated 
midway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, California, seeks a 
qualified, enthusiastic individual to join its nationally recognized Office 
of Information Systems and Services (ISS) as an Information Specialist.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Information Specialists work in a team environment and have individual 
responsibilities for managing library and instruction services.   Under the 
coordination of the Executive Director of Information Services, Information 
Specialists support student and faculty research and instruction 
needs.  Information Specialists (1) provide expert instruction in 
information literacy, (2) apply professional standards of collection 
development to maintain and improve the university's print and electronic 
research resources in some combination of  sciences or humanities, (3) 
offer project specific research consultation and general reference service, 
and (4) supervise support staff and/or student workers.  This position will 
lead Collection Development and will work a non-traditional schedule with 
some regular evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS. Relevant technical skills, teaching 
experience, work experience in an academic library, or web development 
skills a plus.

Compensation: $32,800-$44,000 plus excellent benefits including relocation 
allocation.
