creating a taxonomy

Hi All

I am the content librarian for a Wall Street firm and am working on Intranet
categorization and organization.  I am looking at a tool called Semio to
create taxonomies and a Yahoo type hierarchy to access information on the
Intranet.  I have also seen on the LOC and Dewey web pages approaches to web
collections using Library classifications and will be researching those
further.

I was wondering what other librarians were doing when it comes to organizing
content on Internets and Intranets. 

In addition, does anyone subscribe to the ideas of the content life cycle -
similar to the Knowledge Management lifecycle?  

Any input on the above would be greatly be appreciated.
