Position Title: Senior Developer/Team Leader
Harvard University Library, Office for Information Systems

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Applications Programming in Harvard
University Library’s Office for Information Systems, the Sr. Developer/Team
Leader works as a member of an innovative technology development team
responsible for application programming, infrastructure development and project
management across all University-wide systems used by Harvard libraries. Team
responsibilities include integrating library applications into a coherent whole
by building or enhancing software to meet the changing needs of libraries. Sr.
Developer responsibilities include: architecture design, analysis, programming,
systems integration, testing, and project management. Also, lead s/w
development and maintenance projects. Project scheduling. Project staffing.
Lead analysis. Monitor the progress of tasks. Monitor progress of project
staff. Handle multiple projects simultaneously. Develop systems. Develop system
architecture. Develop program specifications. Program in Java, Perl or PLSQL.
Document code for support staff; document systems for operations support staff.
Term appointment ending June 30, 2002 due to funding source.


Required Education, Experience, Skills:
MLS or computer science degree or equivalent experience with 5-8 years in
systems development. Must be able to function both as team member and team
leader, as appropriate and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Significant experience designing, developing, deploying open Internet
applications utilizing Unix and World Wide Web technologies required.
Experience in Oracle, Perl and either C, C++, or Java required.
