I don't mean this as a smart alec or anything, so please! No offense intended!

Solving the white on black button idea is easy... don't use that colour 
combination. Unless it's a larger size, it's usually going to be hard to read 
if for no other reason than most folk's eyes are attuned to black on white. 
So in the end, try other colour combinations, or make it bigger. :)
