HEAD, GELARDIN NEW MEDIA CENTER / ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR NEW DESIGNS IN
LEARNING AND SCHOLARSHIP.  Join us in creating a whole new environment for
research, technology, and learning.  Unify support for digital library, web, and
multimedia services in a newly renovated space with over 120 computer and
audio-visual workstations.  As Head of the Gelardin New Media Center lead a team
of 5.5 FTE staff, plus student employees to provide access, information,
development, and instructional services for audio, video, and multimedia
materials.  Plan, direct, and administer the Gelardin New Media Center projects,
programs, and operations.  Develop and manage the audio, video, and multimedia
collections.  Participate in creating a digital library highlighting materials
in the Georgetown University Library collections and other materials created by
and for Georgetown scholars and students.  As Assistant Director of the Center
for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS), collaborate in planning and
implementing programs and services that focus on using new strategies and
technologies to improve teaching, learning, and knowledge.  Through CNDLS,
integrate library resources and services into the larger network of University
support services. REQUIRED: MLS from an ALA-accredited program or other Master’s
degree and relevant experience; four to five years’ experience with increasing
administrative responsibility; demonstrated technical skills and knowledge;
ability to plan, organize, and implement projects; experience teaching library
research and/or technical skills; proficiency with HTML and Web authoring tools;
familiarity with online and Internet searching; demonstrated ability to work in
a dynamic environment, to work well with people, and to communicate well, both
orally and in writing. DESIRED:  Library management or supervisory experience.
Multimedia authoring experience including graphic design using Adobe Photoshop;
CGI, Perl, and/or Cold Fusion development; and courseware design and
development.  Salary: starts at $47,524.
