The Michigan Library Consortium (MLC) and the OCLC Institute are pleased to
present "Knowledge Management: Methods & Systems," September 5-7, 2001 at
Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan. The early-bird registration
deadline is August 7. Final registration deadline is August 17. Seating
for this seminar is limited .
Martin Dillon, the OCLC Institute's Executive Director Emeritus, will serve
as faculty for this seminar. "Knowledge Management" is designed to explore
the background, motivations, and definitions of knowledge management and the
intersection of this increasingly popular management trend with the Web
revolution and digital knowledge resources. The focus is on threats and
opportunities for libraries. Topics include components and characteristics
of knowledge management, system fundamentals, functional requirements, and
system performance. Instructional methods include lecture, group
discussion, guided laboratory exercises, case analyses, and small group
presentations.
