While we don't have public color printing yet, we are preparing to start
using the Pharos printing software to control printing. We are mainly going
to Pharos because the rest of campus is or will be using Pharos in all the
labs. With labs charging per print we will avoid everyone coming to the
library to print everything free. ITC is the campus Instructional
Technology Center which includes media services.

Proposed charges at the December 1, 2000 consultants meeting:
Lab Printing Services Price per 8.5 X 11 print
   Level 1 2 3
Color Laser 0.75 0.10 0.025
Color Inkjet 0.50 0.10 0.025
B&W laser/toner 0.10 0.045 0.025

Level 1 Complete management - Pharos card reader release station. ITC
provides equipment, maintenance, consumables, and pays for replacement
equipment.

Level 2 Pharos Plus - Department provides equipment, maintenance, and
consumables. ITC recoups cost of Pharos system and card readers from copy
cards used at that station. Price for this option may vary based on average
monthly volume.

Level 3 Pharos lite - No charge Pharos release station only.

We are debating installing color printers for public access. May I ask for
some background information?

Who has color printers available to the public?

What kind (laser, ink jet)?

How much do you charge per page?

All responses will be appreciated.
