Am I mistaken or should private profit-making Head Hunters be restricted
from participation in posting to this list?
I understand the need for not-for-profits such as colleges and public
libraries to post to this list; advertising dollars are scarce and we need
to gain as much exposure as possible.
BUT IBM RESEARCH is HARDLY POOR!!
If I could have some feedback on this ... does this list have a policy? Can
we "restrict" headhunters from accessing our membership? Should we?
That most recent listing from a Jerry Cohen doesnt impress me with
sincerity, integrity, or anything, for that matter. He states,
" Candidates must be able to start work within one week to ten days after a
telephone interview."
Now, my fellow library professionals, have you ever heard of an employer of
librarians who does ALL interviews by phone? Have you ever heard of an
employer of the status of IBM RESEARCH requiring librarian professionals to
be "able to start work" within one week to ten days? Supposedly librarians
can convey enough by phone that a personal interview, site visit,
presentation, and all the rest is unimportant now in the digital age.
Something seems very amiss!!!!!
No, Jerry, I don't want you to post a second time to this list!! I hope you
get this message and go away.
But that is just my opinion.
If there is a policy on these kinds of posts, I would like to know it. If
there isnt, I would like to work with others to develp one.
