www.backflip.com service - NICE

FYI, all,

"Backflip" is a handy free bookmark or URL menu utility service on the web. You may want to take a look at it. It is a little bit slower than using your native bookmarks, but there are some real advantages to using it:

* Automatically imports your Netscape or Internet Explorer bookmarks and folder arrangement. I quickly imported my nearly **1400** links (and I used to snicker at others with no self-control, hey!).
* You can drag a "BackFlip It" button to Personal Toolbar in your browser; then just click it to add URL for the page you're viewing to your Backflip account.
* Easy to categorize, subcategorize, reorganize.
* You can make your Backflip page your homepage (set up autologon via cookie, "Remember this logon."
* Nice, now you can use your bookmarks from ANY computer, ANY browser, no more copying bookmark files, updating, etc.
* Easy to use for demos...just bookmark your links on your Backflip page, put them in a folder called "Demo" or something, and then use from any PC browser anywhere.
* Fast easy global searching of your URLs by linkname, url, notes, whatever.
* You can "make public" your Backflip, others can use, but they can't change 'em.
* You can "share" an account with others; then they can edit or add.
* You can quickly download your full Backflip file as an HTML bookmark file. E.g., you can edit it, put it on Web, give it to somebody, whatever.

Only three disadvantages from my point of view...
1) The STUPID name!
2) It's a little slower than using your local bookmark file.
3) Alphabetizes links within folders, you can't order them as you wish. (I used prefix-numbering to arrange my top folder categories like I wanted.

If you want to look at a catchall example folder, I "published" this one just now, <http://www.backflip.com/members/ernestperez> and will leave it up for awhile, for your eyes.

There must be a catch somewhere, but I guess I can always "backout" of backflip, via their Export feature!
