We recently purchased two Minolta MS2000 scanners with ESP+
software. The machines scan very quickly.
We were attracted to the idea of being able to print to a networked
laser printer, emailing or saving to a file.
However, I'm not very happy with the ESP+ software. The software
could easily be made into a good public use (library setting)
product, but there are major flaws. The email function is too
complicated - each user needs to know some advanced settings
which they should not need to know. The file save function does not
allow a user to designate a location other than the default folder.
There is one password feature for administrative functions, but
users are prompted for the password which makes this "feature"
useless at a public workstation. There needs to be an optional user
password that can be bypassed. When I talked to the software
company I got the impression that changes were not likely.
If anyone has a suggestion for a scanning program that will work
with the Minolta TWAIN driver, please let me know.
