POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Library Information Services Coordinator/Librarian
June 9, 2000
Walla Walla Community College is accepting applications for the position
of
Library Information Services Coordinator/Librarian.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will report to the Director of Library Services and will
be responsible for coordinating the acquisition and use of computerized
information services by WWCC library staff and students.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Assess computerized library information needs of faculty and students;
Recommend and evaluate electronic resources;
Supervise library technicians and other library employees;
Assist with technical services including cataloging and database
maintenance;
Develop and participate in information literacy and bibliographic
instruction;
Work with faculty to integrate information skills into the curriculum;
Develop electronic research guides and tutorials;
Create, develop, organize, and maintain web pages for library;
Serve as the contact for distant education students concerning library
services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in library science or equivalent degree from an ALA
accredited institution required;
Work experience or training in electronic databases and Internet
resources required;
At least two years library services work experience required;
Strong commitment to services for students and faculty required;
Excellent communication skills and positive interpersonal skills
required;
Demonstrated ability to work successfully as a member of a team
required;
Experience training others in the use of technology desired.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a 250 day professional position exempt from the provisions of
the Fair Labor Standards Act. Duties of the position are 55%
administrative and 45% librarian during the academic year and 100%
administrative during summers. Annualized starting salary will be in
accordance with appropriate administrative and faculty salary schedules
according to the division of duties.
In accordance with the provisions of the Federal Immigration Reform and
Control Act of 1986, Walla Walla Community College hires only United
States citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States.

THE COLLEGE:
Walla Walla Community College is a comprehensive institution providing
vocational, academic, developmental and continuing education programs at
the post-secondary level. Most programs are located on the 100-acre
campus which has been occupied since 1974. Instructional programs are
also offered at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla; the
Clarkston Center in Clarkston, Washington; and other off-campus
locations. Approximately 6,400 students enroll each quarter. This
enrollment is equivalent to nearly 3,800 full-time students.
