Hello all,

Thanks to all who wrote back to me last we when I asked about how to get a
basic Unix systems education. I thought I'd summarize the results to the list.

The three basic categories of response were:

1) Yes, there are classes available: Many computer training companies (e.g.
New Horizons: http://www.newhorizons.com/) do offer some such workshops,
although in general I'm finding that it's a lot easier to find Microsoft
systems training than Unix/Linux. HP does offer its own line of systems
training on many different levels; one of them looks about right for me --
now I just have to get my boss to approve the $2500! I am against my will
stuck with HP-UX, but Sun offers similar classes for Solaris servers.
2) Find someone who knows what they're doing and learn from them.
3) Get/build a cheap Linux box and try stuff out on it first.

I think I'll try a combination of the three.

Thanks for all the advice,
Ken
