Robin,
.I can't seem to reproduce your experience. (unless this line repeats after
it leaves my mail system.) I'm using Outlook 98. What version of Outlook
are you using.

Subject: [WEB4LIB] Microsoft Outlook and dots...
I'm sure some of you have noticed this, but I've yet to see an official
statement about it.
If you start a line of text in Outlook with a period, the line gets
repeated.
For example:
.this line has a period to start it
.this line has a period to start it
Does anyone know if Microsoft knows or cares?
Thanks
Robin
