Digital Services Librarian
 
The UNM General Library is seeking a full-time faculty 
librarian to provide technical and project leadership
for the aggressive development of computer applications
to: create and deliver digital collections (e.g. electronic
theses and dissertations; archives and manuscripts;
electronic reserves and document delivery), enhance and
serve local database resources, and provide extensive
linking from library-hosted web pages to vendor-provided
network-delivered electronic resources.  Working within a
complex and changing environment, this librarian coordinates
and/or leads large library-wide project teams to identify, 
track and apply evolving computing trends and best practices 
in the digital library field.  Works closely with systems
administrators to develop and support applications.
 
Required: Masters degree in Library Science and/or
Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
Minimum of three years post-graduate systems-related
hands-on experience in a library or comparable informa-
tion organization.  Experience administering servers 
running UNIX/LINUX or NT operating systems and
associated applications.  Expert knowledge of computer
hardware, software and network (TCP/IP) applications.
Knowledge of digital file formats (e.g. ASCII, pdf, gif, jpeg,
tiff) and database administration.  Demonstrated
experience managing technical staff and building 
collaborative professional relationships.  Strong customer
service orientation.  Communication skills.
