Europe's Largest Library

For an interesting variation on Coffman's Earth's
Largest Library proposal ... much discussed in these
circles ... see "Building Europe's Largest Library" in
the current issue of Exploit Interactive at
http://www.exploit-lib.org/issue4/ell/ .  This time it
is done without OCLC ... which may make some people
who thought the original was too "OCLC-centric" a
little happier.   Also interesting is Coffman's
contention that as books move to a digital format, the
whole concept of a local library catalog becomes an
anachronism.  Something to think about.
