New Position

Instruction/Reference Librarian-Interviewing at ALA Midwinter

The Paul V. Galvin Library at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT)
is pleased to invite applications for the position of Instruction/
Reference Librarian.  This position is responsible for developing
and delivering instruction that facilitates research and education at
IIT and for continuing the development of the instruction program
in consultation with the Public Services team.

The Instruction/Reference Librarian will also be involved in
providing reference service, research consultation, and
participating in collection development.  In addition,
the incumbent assists the Associate Director for Public Services in
planning, public relations, outreach as well as in other areas.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  The successful candidate will
have an MLS from an ALA accredited institution; two years of
experience in public services; one year of instruction experience
with knowledge of instructional methods and electronic instruction
software/equipment; excellent teaching skills; strong inter-
personal and communication skills; the ability to work effectively
with a diverse user population; and the initiative, flexibility, and
ability to adjust to changing conditions in a library committed to
quality service.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience in
instruction, reference, and collection development in a
science/engineering environment; an academic background in
science/engineering; and, experience in outreach and public relations.

COMPENSATION: Salary will be competitive and based on
qualifications.  TIAA-CREF and other retirement plans are offered

near Chicago’s Loop.  The university focuses on
