SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN Search Continued
Assistant or Associate Professor
Reporting to the Chief Librarian, responsible for all aspects of planning,
development, implementation and maintenance of computer and LAN network
systems for four library sites; maintains Novell CD-ROM networks, online
bibliographic and full-text databases, Internet/WWW access, CUNY +, and
PC/MAC/multi-media products in support of public services; coordinates
CUNY-wide NOTIS system support with CUNY central office; coordinates campus
network support with Office of Instructional Computing and Information
Technology; prepares strategic planning documents as related to library
automation activities; works with staff in addressing automation, training,
and public access computer lab issues; supervises 2 F-T staff.
Qualifications: M.L.S., or its equivalent from an ALA-accredited library
school, plus an additional Masters degree or PhD. Highly desirable:
Minimum two years library systems experience with some working experience
in an academic library; solid understanding of the application of computers
in an academic library setting; knowledge of computer systems, networks,
emerging technologies, Windows, TCP/IP, Ethernet; initiative,
self-direction, and ability to work independently and in a team
environment; excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills;
supervisory, teaching and training experience; ability to meet requirements
for promotion/tenure. Salary: Assistant Professor: $32,703 - $57,049;
Associate Professor: $42,616 - $68,174, commensurate with qualifications
and experience. Liberal fringe benefits. 35-hour, 5-day work week,
including some possible evening and/or weekend hours.

Hunter College, the second oldest college in The City University of New
York, is a coeducational, fully accredited college, with a large and

library resources of Hunter College are available through CUNY+, an
automated library system, which provides access to all CUNY library
collections.
