Scanning 35 mm Slides

I was trying to figure out how to scan 35 mm slides, and was delighted
to see that someone has experimented with low cost (and free) methods of
accomplishing the task.  The first link uses a flourescent flashlight,
the second shows you how to construct a backlighter.
