All,

Just my $0.02 on the issue.

The big thing is getting the sites known. "Marketing, Marketing,
Marketing" is the virtual equal to "Location, Location, Location". It
doesn't matter if you have a .lib.XX.us or a .com, if they don't
visit. And if they do visit, and they like it, they'll add it to their
bookmarks, where your TITLE (not URL) is what is important. Granted,
making your name skfguhsfgd.345-3s.XX.us doesn't help them pass it along t
their friends, but anything "remember-able" is able to be passed along, if
interesting enough. I've passed along long URLS, complete with tildes and
odd characters, because it was *worth* it.

As to .lib vs .library ... Honestly, I think someone should (might?)
propose a SYSTEM of naming objects in hyperspace before adding more TLDs.
I don't know about you, but having a system that places things in the
"universe", and can be reproduced by others to find those things once
placed there, is much more appealling to me than having a ton of "short"
random domain names all over the place. Isn't that what Cataloging and
Dewey Decimal are all about? Then, .com vs. .lib vs. .info don't matter,
unless they happen to be part of the new system.

Food for thought...
