I'm also not a big fan of ads but I downloaded Opera and found that I 
barely notice the ads. They don't get in the way of your search or clutter 
up the screens you go to. What I object to more is our library paying real 
money for a database like Academic Universe and still having to put up with 
ads. at least Opera is free -- plus they give you a choice; if you really 
really object to ads you can pay what is a quite reasonable price for the 
browser.
