printing in public areas

Seasoned Greetings!

The University of Evansville has 10 networked PCs printing to 3 networked HP
LaserJet 4000 TN.  Recently, a plastic doo-dad that holds the bottom paper
tray has become broken in 2 of the 3 printers.  Currently, one printer is
off-site being repaired.  These printers typically see heavy usage printing
from our OPAC, online databases and the web.  Is this printer the best one
available?  Has anyone else been plagued by broken doo-dads?
