The current issue of First Monday
<http://firstmonday.org/issues/issue5_12/index.html> has an interesting
article by Richard J Cox. Cox's article, "The great newspaper caper:
backlash in the digital age"
<http://firstmonday.org/issues/issue5_12/cox/index.html> is a response to
one of Nicholson Baker's libraries and technology broadsides.

I was particularly struck by the article since I had just read the CLIR
document, "Minimum criteria for an archival repository of digital scholarly
journals" <http://www.clir.org/diglib/preserve/criteria.htm>, which Roy
Tennant highlighted in his abstract of Deanna Marcum's October C&RL News
article in the November issue of Current Cites
<http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/CurrentCites/2000/cc00.11.11.html>.

Baker, by the way, is scheduled to speak at ALA Annual in San Francisco in
June, as part of a Progressive Librarians Guild program. His address is
tentatively titled, "'Last Available Copy' : The Politics of Paper".
