On Wed. Aug 30, David Merchant wrote on this subject:  "But it is agreed that
turning off and on does have the disadvantage of chip creep and power surges,
the latter bad for life span."

I agree with his initial argument that it's better to power them down for the
reasons mentioned, as I do every day at our library.  I am curious though about
his final sentence quoted above.  May I ask David (or anyone else) to explain
what "chip creep" means?  This is a new one for me.  Thanks!
