I have Ranganathan's Five Laws posted in my office, a print from a
PowerPoint slide I use at the beginning of the information literacy course I
teach. I ask the class to be honest: who doesn't like using libraries or
has had bad experiences in them? Libraries exist for the users, an idea
often lost when the users harbor negative impressions, and Ranganathan spoke
eloquently in few words.

The Five Laws also provide great guidance when selecting materials or
weeding the collection!
