Immediate opening
Location: These are contract positions at:
IBMs Thomas J. Watson Research Center at Hawthorne, NY
Description:
Immediate contract opening 6 to12-month term project in Westchester
County, NY for individual with advanced training in Library Science.
The contracted individual will be engaged in a project developing new
technology in a search-related field. This will involve working with a
small team of programmers and librarians.
IBM's Watson Research is the premiere science research institution
worldwide. Employing upwards of 3,000 full-time scientists and
engineers, this facility is also reknown for developing the first
computers and for the discovering the phenomenon of superconductivity.
Participation in a project at this institution will enhance any resume
and, where this project is concerned, will add IT experience to your
c.v.
Requirements: for project-based Librarian positions:
· MS in Library Science or closely related discipline or BS plus 2 or
more years experience.
· At least 2 years working with web search engines i.e. Yahoo, Lycos,
Google, AltaVista, etc.
· Native Fluency in a foreign language (preferably French or Spanish)
· A definite plus is any experience in constructing taxonomies or in
using advanced search technologies.
