This year I will be writing three newTech Notes for the
Public Library Association
http://www.pla.org/technoteindex.html). As with the
other nine, these will be posted on PLAs Web site as
they are completed. The first one is on Geographic
Information Systems (GIS), the second on Unicode, and
the third on e-books. All should be completed and
posted by the end of June.
I have just begun work on GIS. I have in hand George
Soetes excellent February 1997 SPEC Kit 219
document on GIS from the Association of Research
Libraries, and a few web sites. I would be deeply
interested in hearing from any *public library* that is
using GIS, and in what ways. I will be happy to
interview you by phone or via email. Useful citations are
always welcome, also.
Thanks to all. I look forward to hearing from you.
