ELECTRONIC RESOURCES CATALOGER: This position will establish practices
and procedures for providing intellectual access to electronic journals,
text files, and online databases, and provide high quality cataloging of
electronic resources. This position prepares special collections for use
by developing finding aids/ research tools, encoding them for online
use, creating electronic images and linking them to the finding aids and
creating catalog records for the collections; serves as a member of the
library

?s Intellectual Access Group to integrate catalog and Web page
access to resources.; researches and applies standards in technology in
the provision of access to electronic resources; collaborates with the
Digital Services Coordinator in developing/managing digital projects;
provides collection development services in assigned disciplines; and
participates in providing public service in University Archives/Tidewater
History, notably reference and instructional/outreach services.
QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: ALA-accredited MLS; experience with cataloging
and knowledge of USMARC; experience with HTML and digital imaging
software; demonstrated aptitude for learning technologies and applying
those skills in an academic library; ability to communicate effectively
with colleagues, patrons, and volunteers; ability to work in a
cross-functional team environment.
PREFERRED: experience with coding finding aids in EAD and knowledge of
XML
SALARY AND BENEFITS: $30,000 minimum. Good benefits package
LOCATION: Old Dominion University is a state-supported institution with
