Examples of events calendars?

As we update the library's website from the ground up, the person what's in
charge of doing the events calendar online has expressed an interest in
seeing good interpretations of calendars on library websites. She's come up
with some really nifty approaches but seeks... how do we say...the Rosebud
of library program websites.
One bit of input we got from library staff is the need to have two
views--the calendar view and the narrative view.
Our local paper offers websites to nonprofits and they have a calendar
tool, which we have also tinkered with, but it is limited and excruciatingly
laborious for a library with as many activities as ours (no "copy event"
command, no ability to repeat activities across weeks, etc.). Our website is
*currently* a small, static site located on someone else's server, but that
will probably change next year, so dynamically-generated HTML, server-based
solutions etc. are certainly an option for the near future if not the
moment.
We aren't "live" with our current examples so I can't show you what we're up
to.
