                           Campus Webmaster

The University of Nevada, Reno seeks a campus webmaster to provide leadership
and coordination for the university's presence on the world wide web.

Responsibilities: The university's web site is a collaborative effort, with colleges
and departments providing the majority of web content.  The position is
responsible for development of the site and provides guidance and coordination
for unit web developers. Sets the agenda for the University Web Management
Team, which provides general oversight and policy development for the website.
Provides leadership for strategic and operational planning. Supports and trains
staff and faculty in their use of web technologies. Programs advanced web
applications. Evaluates effectiveness of the site for various user groups. Evaluates
and supports tools for building interactive multimedia websites. The campus
webmaster reports to the Associate Vice President for Information Resources and
Technologies.

Qualifications: Bachelor degree required. With bachelor, minimum 5 years
experience with communications technologies and information presentation such
as HTML, PowerPoint, PhotoShop, etc. Demonstrated success in managing a
high-volume website must be part of this experience. With masters degree,
minimum 3 years equivalent experience required. Position requires ability to
achieve results with minimal supervision. Demonstrated success in collaborating
collegially with diverse individuals and groups, and the ability to communicate
clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, with both novice and advanced
clientele. Thorough knowledge of HTML and ability to create and process
graphics for the web. Preferred skills include knowledge of code for advanced
web applications (e.g., Perl, VBScript, ASP, Javascript), database software,
graphics tools, and multimedia tools (e.g., Macromedia, ShockWave, Real
Audio).

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Fringes: TIAA/CREF and other retirement options; 24 vacation days; generous
sick leave. No state income tax. 

Environment:  University of Nevada, Reno has a student body of 12,500, with
approximately one-third enrolled in graduate degree programs. The University is
situated in Reno, a metropolitan area of 300,000, on the eastern slope of the Sierra
Nevada, 35 miles from Lake Tahoe.
