Hi Carol,

Java with the Mac version of Netscape has been problematic for me for as long as I
can remember. Although it's improved somewhat with version 4.5, it still slows down
my machine and sometimes even crashes it. I'm not sure of the exact technical
details, but I believe Netscape uses it's own java machine - which apparently sucks.

As much as I prefer Netscape as my internet tool of choice, IE lets you pick which
java machine it utilizes - either it's own, or the Mac OS Runtime for Java (MRJ).
The MRJ seems to be much more stable, resulting in a more hassle-free browsing
experience with Internet Explorer. So, now I find myself firing up IE much more
regularly, depending on what I'm planning on doing.
