POSITION TITLE:
Program Analyst IV
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
An exciting opportunity exists to provide
administrative support to the Offices of the
Executive Director for the beautiful, brand new
Health Sciences & Human Services Library by
assisting in the implementation of programmatic
and administrative policies and procedures to
attain smooth running of the library facility.
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining relationships and acting as a
liaison with appropriate campus facilities
departments and fire and safety departments;
Interfacing with the computing departments in
the building on issues of security and
physical access to hardware and software;
Coordinating building facility maintenance,
housekeeping, security, and building access;
and troubleshooting HVAC problems, as well as
overseeing the mailroom/postal/services/
delivery/shipping for all departments in the library;
Tracking inventory and depreciation schedules
for all capital assets;
Overseeing and monitoring accounting
operations, procedures and databases for
revenue producing services of the library;
acting as a liaison with Auxiliary Services
on copier contracts, on-site café, etc.;
Preparing statistical reports, spreadsheets
and other documents in support of
administration/operations as well as
assisting with special projects;
Supervising the postal services clerk and the
account clerk.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Bachelors degree (preferably in Business, Accounting,
or Management) and three years of progressively responsible
experience in any combination of public budget or public personnel
administration, management analysis, program planning and/or
administrative staff work (preferably in an academic and/or library
environment). The desired candidate will have experience with
maintaining effective organizational relationships including complex
coordinating and consulting. The desired candidate will also have
knowledge of budget processes; accounting principles; ability to
supervise, motivate, direct and evaluate staff; ability to plan and
prioritize while meeting deadlines in a multitasked environment;
and demonstrated skill with many computer and software
applications including databases, spreadsheets, and word
processing. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in
writing and must work well with many levels of professional and
support staff.

POSITION TITLE:
Assistant Director for Computing & Technology
Services (CATS)
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As part of the Library's senior management team, this exciting
position will oversee, direct and coordinate planning,
implementation, maintenance, enhancement and technical support
of information systems and infrastructure which support the
academic enterprise at UMB.
Responsibilities include:
¬ Planning and establishing long and short term
priorities in collaboration with appropriate
campus or HS/HSL units;
¬ Overseeing campus-wide (networked)
applications and the operation
maintenance, security and support of the
applications;
¬ Directing implementation of systems to
support access to Internet, World Wide Web
or locally mounted electronic resources and
services;
¬ Overseeing technical support of library local
area networks; integrated library management
systems; and office automation including
public and staff workstations, hardware,
software and network configurations.
¬ Overseeing and coordinating HELP Desk,
computing assistance desk, HS/HSL staff
computing support, HS/HSL classrooms
and other library facilities;
¬ Supervising and evaluating CATS staff through
performance development;
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a degree in library and information science, computer
science or related field (Master's preferred) with ten years of related
technical and supervisory experience. Must have advanced level
knowledge of network and server infrastructure technology;
knowledge of microcomputer hardware and software in an
academic environment; knowledge of trends and issues regarding
electronic information resources and information technology.
Knowledge of library information management systems and
service. The desired candidate will have proven leadership, project
management, negotiation and organizational skills. Must have
excellent oral and written communication, presentation and
interpersonal skills. Must be able to handle multiple priorities;
must be able to use a consultative approach to resolve issues in
areas of responsibility; must have demonstrated service orientation
and the ability to network with and provide information to key
groups and individuals.
