GRADE: Range 80 $1,717.60 biweekly + D.O.E.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
- System Administrator for three systems serving statewide library
efforts; (1) integrated library system; (2) email and file server; (3)
electronic gateway to the Internet.
- Manage resources of statewide electronic gateway computer to ensure easy
access for novice users and sophisticated access for advanced users
through a custom-designed, dynamic interface to 100+ databases via the
Internet.
- Troubleshoot system hardware and software. Develop resource and
technical plans for the development and modification of hardware and/or
software to circumvent problems and enhance the overall computing
environment through written documentation and computer programming.
- Respond to critical system problems affecting the above systems. On-call
via cellular phone providing all-hours support to resolve system or
application outages quickly and efficiently.
- Perform regular maintenance to the three systems; some being
preventative maintenance; some being required upkeep maintenance.
- Perform regular full system backups and maintain data safeguards to
guarantee no date loss even in the event of major hardware failure.
- Custom computer programming on multiple computer systems including
HP3000 and HP9000 mini-computers, Win95/98/NT, Linux Operating Systems,
utilizing C, PERL, and HTML.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent in technical and
theoretical training and experience required. Must possess theoretical
and practical knowledge to develop (programming and system analysis)
systems and adapt to rapidly changing technology. Must have extensive
system administration experience working with Unix and Windows NT.
Demonstrated proficiency in HTML, writing CGIs, and C programming language
are required; knowledge of and proficiency with other computer languages
most helpful. Extensive knowledge of workstation tools and network
interaction, programming, resource capacity planning and management,
debugging various network protocols preferred.
