Subject: System Administrator (Job #11286)
The UCSF Library and Center for Knowledge Management seeks applicants for
the position of System Administrator.
The incumbent will maintain currency of UNIX operating systems; install
software packages; administer domain name services (DNS), network
information services (NIS), and web servers; generate statistical
information; maintain backup procedures.
Requires demonstrated customer service orientation and skills. Excellent
working knowledge of the UNIX Solaris operating system, including DNS,
NIS, and serial mail. Ability to install, troubleshoot, and maintain Sun
workstation hardware. Ability to write scripts in at least one language.
Understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, SMTP, and POP. Degree
in computer science or related field plus one full year of experience or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer familiarity with Netscape, Apache web servers, other web servers,
Legato backup, and Veritas Volume Manager.
Classified as Programmer Analyst II; $42,200 - $67,500 per year, with
starting salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Career
position with excellent health, vacation, and retirement benefits.
