Position Announcement
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Library invites applications for
two Reference/Instruction librarian positions. The Library has a
commitment to facilitating faculty and student research, a strong
service orientation, and a well-developed program of library
instruction. The Library is in the process of implementing Endeavor's
Voyager automated system and invests heavily in electronic and full-text
sources. The Library has 10 professionals, 7 support staff, and
approximately 50 student employees. Its collection includes 265,000
titles, 402,000 volumes, and 18,000 AV items.
The successful candidates will provide reference service to users, serve
as liaison to several faculty departments for purposes of library
instruction and collection development, develop print and
technology-based instructional materials, and participate in additional
outreach and instruction programs.
QUALIFICATIONS. REQUIRED: Graduate library degree from an ALA accredited
library school; effective interpersonal and communication skills;
ability to work collegially in small groups and team environments;
demonstrated ability in providing reference service and library
instruction; demonstrated proficiency with a variety of electronic
information resources, including the World Wide Web; familiarity with
the use and application of microcomputers; knowledge of issues and
trends in reference services and library instruction; demonstrated
professional commitment to librarianship, especially library
instruction. DESIRED: experience working in an academic library; strong
computer skills, with demonstrated ability in developing print,
Web-based, and electronic user resources.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: minimum $30,636; 22 days of vacation, plus 3
personal days; comprehensive medical insurance; state retirement system;
group life insurance.
Both positions are permanent, academic staff appointments. The
successful candidates will be hired at the rank of Associate Academic
Librarian.

instruction session using one or more electronic resources. Applicants
