The Cline Library at Northern Arizona University invites applications for:  
Instructional Design Librarian.  The Instructional Design Librarian is a member
of  a 5 FTE unit responsible for design, development, and production of digital
information and on-line library services.  Assumes primary responsibility for
the continuous design improvements of  web-based instructional modules.
Assesses student success and self-sufficiency in using the modules.
Participates in the Library’s Integrated  Instruction Group, a
cross-departmental team that identifies the instructional needs of library
users and promotes the progressive development of information competencies. 
Serves as liaison with other University IT and teaching personnel who are also
developing web-based training and instructional content.  Demonstrates use of 
instructional modules in the Library, residence halls, labs on the Flagstaff
campus, and at distance education sites.  May supervise students and interns in
performing special projects.  In addition to active participation in Library
and University committees and working groups, serves as a subject specialist
which includes resource selection and faculty liaison responsibilities.


Minimum Qualifications:  ALA-accredited MLS or Master’s Degree in Education
preferred; other graduate degrees will be seriously considered.   Minimum one
year experience developing user interfaces and instructional content for a
web-based environment preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge of  information
technology issues for asynchronous learners. Demonstrated skill in the use of 
web authoring tools, scripting, and mark-up languages. Evidence of  creative
application of innovative technologies.  Familiarity with Windows NT and
demonstrated knowledge of Unix. Project management experience and record of
successful project completion. Knowledge of current and emerging trends in
libraries, higher education, and distance education.  Strong interest in
evaluating user experience and modifying interfaces and instructional content
to enhance user success.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a
diverse workplace and a multi-cultural learning environment. Evidence of
flexibility and enjoyment of collaborative endeavors.  

Salary range beginning at $34,000.  The closing date for receipt of
