Libraries hosting people's web pages

The State Library of Tasmania has offered a service, called Tasmania
Online, that offers non-profit community groups free web hosting space
and assistance/training in creating web pages.  Since its inception in
Feb 1996, over 250 non-profit community groups have taken up this
service and it has been a success in both raising the profile of the
Library and in raising awareness of the World Wide Web in the general
community.   Another benefit has been the increase in staff skill levels
that such a service requires within the State Library.  We certainly
have not seen this as a minus.
