When I obtained the property assessments from the city assessor's office and
processed them into Web pages early this year, someone from the NYS Office of
Real Property Services said she thought it was unique. During the summer, I
heard about a site in Michigan which is doing something similar with an
interactive database (I produce static pages). You may view them at:

I have since added one of the towns, bringing total coverage to nearly half of
the 66,000 properties in the county. This service has been very popular, and I
have received many requests from residents of the other towns to make their
area available.
Our local history page (http://www.scpl.org/history) provides access to
obituaries, census records and my current project, the first city directory.
My "enhanced" version includes a street listing (not available in paper until
1930). The names and streets are linked, so if you find your ancestor, it's
easy to check to see who his neighbors were. It will be a couple of weeks
before it's clean enough to be linked to the public page, but you may view it
at:

Hope this helps with your question.
