Announcing Webcite,
an experimental MLA-style citation generator
Now that the MLA rules for electronic resource citation
seem to be firmly in place and in scholastic use, I've
developed an experimental citation generator that
uses an input form plus JavaScript to compose
example citation formatts.
This service is still in beta, and I've developed three
separate versions, the last of which should be most
compatible with the JS-browsers. Updates will
arrive as I receive more feedback from users.
* For Netscape 4.x users only:
http://members.tripod.com/~rtiess/webcite.htm
* For most MSIE 3.x/NN 3.x users:
http://members.tripod.com/~rtiess/webcite2.htm
(Use the version below if you encounter problems,
as it avoids creating a new web page and uses
only the JavaScript alert function for output.)
* For others with fully JavaScript-enabled browsers:

I developed this service as a potential tool for
patrons, who have demonstrated much difficulty
in citing electronic/Internet resources, more as a
visual learning aid than anything else.
Please report all bug reports to rjtiess at warwick.net
with "Webcite Bug Report" in the subject line. I'm
also interested if you experience any inconsistencies
with the program's output and the official MLA
format, which is available via a link at pages above.
