POSITION TITLE:
Library Information Specialist

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position provides technical and operational support for the
management of the library's databases and computers, and works with
vendors and staff to ensure the smooth operation of the systems.
Responsibilities include:

Programming the library's database and web interface;

Providing technical support for assigned computer-based library projects;

Problem solving, configuring, and upgrading the computers that support the
library's database systems;

Acting as the liaison with staff and vendors with regards to the
operating, configuring, problem solving and upgrading of the library's
database systems and web interface;

Writing/generating reports about the progress or use of the library's
database systems.

Position will also assist the Assistant Director in setting up goals and
objectives for the library databases and computer management systems; and
assist in hardware and software troubleshooting and resolution, as well as
developing project plans and executing them in this constantly changing
technological environment.  Position will also be responsible for
determining best methods of operating the library's databases and computer
management systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a Masters in Library Science.  Preferred applicants will possess
a strong working knowledge of library database system operations based on
UNIX or VAX-VMS, familiarity with Windows NT server and workstation and
Novell networks.  Preferred experience includes familiarity with PERL
programming language or CGI scripting, Visual Basic, word processing,
spreadsheet, and presentation software, as well as Internet browser
software.

SALARY:
$25,596 - $39,000
