Free e-mail

Are there any free e-mail services that use the IMAP protocols instead
or in addition to PopMail?  Yahoo uses PopMail for what it calls access
to external servers.  I use IMAP becaue it allows me to access my e-mail
from several different machines in our library.  It would be nice to
have that access via any webbrowser.
