SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN.  Delta State University seeks applications from
energetic, service oriented individuals for the position of systems
librarian.  The library system is composed of four units with construction
underway on a $9 Million addition to and reno vation of the main library.
A variety of new technological and service initiatives are now being
implemented and more than $500,000 in new computer equipment will be
purchased by the library in the next year. DSU also participates in
MAGNOLIA, a statewide network for access to electronic databases. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: provides leadership in the planning, development, and
management of library computing and networking systems, including Geac
ADVANCE Library System, local area network of databases, library's Web
pages. Participates in two database acquisitions consortia, recommends
purchases and maintains all hardware and software, coordinates user
training and support, serves as liaison with campus Information Technology
Services. 

REQUIRED: MLS from an ALA-accredited program or comparable technology
degree and relevant experience in library environment; excellent oral,
written, and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational
and analytical skills; indepth knowledge of integrated library systems,
networking, hardware and software as they relate to delivery of library
services; knowledge of UNIX, Windows, SGML/HTML, TCP/IP; familiarity with
emerging trends in information technology. 

HIGHLY DESIRED: familiarity and experience with Geac ADVANCE, 
SilverPlatter and Novell software and networks. 

12-month position with faculty status and excellent fringe benefits. 
Salary from $29,000, commensurate with qualifications.  Applications will
